G'Day Gents

Thought I'd take a rest from cutting up roof slates, haven't started tiling the roof yet ,just cutting slates  so with the platform inside the goods shed there I thought I'd build a small hand crane to give it bit of something. If anyone needs a run down on how I made it, give us a shout.

Manna's entered service in wartime black, with her nameplates, at last! looks brilliant hauling a long coal train.

Just a few pics today, I'm finishing off a couple of little jobs, as I'm back to work tomorrow, so everything will slow down again.

Enjoy

G'Day Gents

I'm off work sick with a cold, so to take my mind off of feeling like c***, thought I'd do a bit of work on Edgware's goods shed, seeing that I'd only just finished putting the last tile on last week (there's about 2,000, of the little beggars) so it was time to fit the chimney, barge boards etc and give it a lick of paint, there's still a few bits to do, gutters downpipes and chimney pots.

Criticism always welcome.

A fine building indeed. That roof looks to be slates applied individually, very well executed.
Keep up the good work, it's what I aspire to.

No, it looks a whole heap better than a RTR building, no over deep mortar courses :) Shouldn't it be a RTP (ready to plant) building anyway?

G'Day Gents

Thanks for that,' Ready to Plant' I like that :D

I won't be able to finish the goods shed for a little while, as I've run out of thick plastic sheet, to make the gutters, so I have started the water tower, only a bit of wood framing at the moment, but I'm not going to get to far with that either, no embossed sheet either,so I'll have to give the model shop in Adelaide a ring.

So I'll give you a couple of pics of the 'planted' goods shed on the layout, enjoy. :P

manna

Stop Press. after hunting through the railway shed I've just found two sheets of Brick embossed plastic sheet, so on with the water tower

Ditto. When I first looked at it I thought it was RTR/RTP! 8)

G'Day Gents

Not a great deal happening at Edgware, been tidying up a few locos, numbers etc and finishing off the Drewry shunter.

I've started to build the frame for the water tower, but that's as far as I've got as I've bought four s/h wardrobes for the shed, which will tidy it up no end.

Going down to Adelaide tomorrow so a visit the the model shop is on the cards, have a small list, lol..........piccy time.

I'm always in awe of those who do the individual tiles thing - when I see that it's involved TWO THOUSAND words fail me! I would never have the patience, however good the result looks - and yours does!

Thank you 'whynot' as you say it's a long boring task, I used to do about a 120 tiles a night, with breaks of sometimes a couple of days to save my sanity (don't think it worked though :P ) but as you say the end result is what we strive for, I'm tackling the water tower next, mainly because there's no roof tiles, after that it's on to the station, luckily it can be made in parts.

Good trip down to Adelaide yesterday, and I got all the bits I needed to finish off the goods shed and the platform edging.

Well that's the water tower finished, bar the ladder and a bit more weathering, see what you think. I've also finished the Goods shed, gutters and downpipes are fitted and painted, though I haven't taken any pictures of it yet. The station is going to be my next building project, but there's a couple of other bits to do first

G'Day Gents

Now that the excitement of building a water tower is over  I thought I'd do a easy tidy up and detail of a Lima J50 (or U-Boat) I bought this one off of E-Bay about 6 weeks ago, and likes to speed along at 200mph, but with a train on will run a bit slower.

After removing most of the green paint and spraying it grey, it was a matter of adding bits and bobs out of the scrap box, to make it a bit more lifelike, lamp irons, smokebox regulator control rod, fire iron holder, on top of the tank top and vacuum pipes and a pipe along the running plate, jobs still to do are sand boxes and new steps over the sand boxes, should keep me busy for a few more days. :P Enjoy
