Heritage Line Layout-a change of plan
Re: Heritage Line Layout-Named at last P9
That really does look amazing, I am also building a heritage line. Love the look of the full to bursting sidings - really captures the atmosphere well.

Hi puffer37 welcome to the fold, when I first got into model railways I was very lucky, the first magazine I bought was Railway Modeller, the edition with the first ever colour photo cover featuring P.D.Hancock's Craig and Mertonford narrow gauge line, I was hooked. I hope you get as much encouragement from members pictures and plans as I did back then from those early magazines.
@ YorkRail - don't know how I missed your posting. If it's the bufferstops your asking after they are all from a single batch of what I think were Hornby, bought as a poly-bagful quite a few years ago. They need the clips cutting off before they sit well on code 75 rail and I've modified them to fit in some of the locations, then splashed on the rust coloured acrylic paint.

Well John, I found this thread today and have been absolutely fascinated by your work, I don't recall ever going through a full thread of this size before. Heritage lines never crossed my mind as a modelling prospect....how stupid am I?!!!. Really though it is the quality of the modelling together with the ingenuity of he creator and the way it all fits together to form a complete picture. Congratulation John this is truly special.

Thanks for the comments Mike. I try to stick to the "Old Masters" rule for detail, first work out where your viewer will stand. Then it's a case of if the viewer can't see it you aren't obliged to make it. Some of my scenery has a great deal in common with the stuff that's used in movie and TV studios. Bufferstop wrote:Why a heritage line? Lack of self discipline, if I take a liking too a particular loco or other vehicle it isn't going to look out of place. Also every siding filled with stock and hardly room to move, is being true to type. So here's a few pictures of where I'm at.

The station building
and the loco shed

I still don't know how she sat there without disturbing anything, but that look says "Just you try moving me." That cat looks a little out of scale..Lol

One of the more amusing cat pictures it has to be said!
Re: Heritage Line Layout-Named at last P9
I could be wrong, but I'm sure that cats not the right scale!
Re: Heritage Line Layout-Named at last P9
Nice layout. I like the cat too. It's a good helper I guess...
And now, it's up to you. Please don't be too cruel...

I've got one of those ginger 'assistants'! Also likes to assist with model aircraft builds too!

Re: Heritage Line Layout-Named at last P9
Sadly the ginger monster is no longer with us. There's a new "helper" now but being all jet black apart from one tiny little patch he's extremely difficult to photograph well. Especially as he keeps his eye's closed most of the day.
There's little visible change to the layout, apart from an intrusive but now essential lift tower, which the TV production crew on the forecourt are now struggling to keep out shot. I'll have to look through the out-takes and get some of them posted.
