Thanks Geoff, that makes sense, I feel a trip to the shed for a little testing coming on.

I've been stalking for the last few years and now I have exposed myself!
I would like to make up some great story about how I have been working on world peace for the last 5 years, but it's more to do with a mental brake down and starting to get back to my old self (with slight changes)
Just so you know Geoff your topic was the first for my reappearance/exposure.

Hi Dave,

Ahhh, been away until today (Mon) came back home as the
rains started down here on the south coast.
Perhaps though I should have put this link in, which was
used in the Bachmann thread discussion on the Webb Coal Tank.

St Oval gets a lot more freight than passenger services. Soon
to test the last 3 Dapol 16 ton mineral wagon kits. One still
needing it's couplings fitted, a job for this evening.

The Coal Tank doing what it was designed for. I bet you watched it go round quite a few more times :D
I have two memories connected to them, my maternal great grandfather's photograph of him standing proudly in front of one in his drivers uniform overalls, just issued to him in 1924, both he and the tanks by then working for the LMS I'd have loved to find that photo again, but where it went is a mystery.
The other was my Gran's next door neighbour, a wiry little Glaswegian, who brought home the dome cover from one being taken for scrap, I must have been just over 5 so that makes it around '49/'50. The dome was a feature in his back garden for at least the next ten years. What did he use it for,- to force his rhubarb of course :!:
Growing old, can't avoid it. Growing up, forget it!

I count that as a plus rather than a minus 8)

My Threads have been decimated by the Photobucket fiasco and I'm still coming to terms
with another image hosting set-up. Sorry to bore with pictures that almost certainly were
in the original thread, but now well out of context.

Here we have St.Oval station with what was the new platform lights.

Slightly larger images than I'd like, I used to do 800 wide, but these are bigger and as yet I
don't know how to re-size.

MY photographs replaced up to and including page 3 ...... Not a bad place to hang around !
As yet I have to sort out failed PB images in other contributors postings.

Even I've found it quite informative ......

It is a great shame that excellent threads such as this have been decimated by no fault of the owner. Thanks for reinstating the begining, hopefully somewhere along the line you will get a bit of time to do a few more pages.
