Egroeg93's layout ~ Modern image OO gauge - Videos Added!

Postby egroeg93 » Tue Feb 02, 2010 4:54 pm

Yay! Started building my layout, quite a lot later than i hoped.. Its a nice size, on a board about 12x6 feet. Modern Era, hornby set track, DCC. It consists mainly of 3 loops, a long through station and a TMD (and believe me, thats as far as my technical knowledge/vocabluary goes!). I aquired much of the track whilst i was younger, so i've got most of that, I'm just aquiring the extra things like express points and 4th radius corners. I've had it running straight on the carpet for a bit, but finally got the cash to build the board :)

Throughout this thread i will be making sure that i list the materials i use as best i can, because i find it frustrating when i see other threads where people do something awesome and i have no idea how :P

My stock (as of early January) you will see in the pics consists of:
Hornby pendolino, class 60 and 08 (both EWS). Also a GNER white rose which I have DCC converted.
Bachmann class 66s, one freightliner and one EWS.
As for wagons, a few HHA/MGR/MFA/seacows and intermodals :)

As i'm not in favour of paying £35 for the full version of the anyrail software, I will show this one which is the corner of the layout. The rest is just a loop, so thats why i'm showing this plan.

Heres a few pics so far:

Is that being built on the floor or have you just not got legs on the board yet?

Great start.
You have one thing I wish I had.....an empty room!
Good luck with the layout.

I just noticed your signiture.
I love BR blue diesels.
The reason for me is it's what I always saw at portsmouth harbour station on our trips to the mainland. So nostalgia really.
I guess you had to be there to appreciatte them more.
Some peopl I think like a uniform look also,I know I do sometimes.

Steve.
Do you hear the voices too???

Its going on the floor, the chances of legs are very slim, it may be hoisted, but for now the plan is that it can stay there and go against the wall if neccessary. (Omg have i spelt that right!?)

Since my last post i had my birthday, (febuary the 7th) :)
Got a nice bachmann 150/2 in reigonal railways. Beautiful thing, the contrast in weight between the motorised car and non-motorised car is huge!
Also i've got all the track to complete the TMD bit, had a go at adding ballast to a seacow wagon, and added the detailing pack to one end of my class 60.

Pics to follow :)

Not doing bad for 7yr old mate!!
Growing old is compulsary, growing up is optional!

ALL CLASS 50`S SHOULD BE CUT UP INTO SMALL PIECES AND USED FOR SOMETHING MORE USEFUL LIKE A PAPER-WEIGHT

Half an hour fighting with pva glue, and with all the ballast just getting stuck to my fingers, I finally arranged them into this:
