Garage Layout Barnfield Junction

Postby B@rney » Wed May 20, 2009 8:53 pm

I've not done anything, but like everyone else I thought I would post a Pre-date... it's like an update, but before you bloody do anything or have anything to show...'

Well the plan is to have a computer controlleed via Digitrax equipment running a double track inverted figure of eight, but with the option to run as seperate loops via a masssive great junction.....

Progress to come....

Nothing more to report, but I have thought about it a bit more..

Im going to have 3 platforms, each will hold a 6 coach HST. Also 6 storage loops which will each hold a 6 coach hst with extra space...

I thought Id stop taking the "michael" and actually post some things of interest.

Ok First off the track plan..

Now the build itself..

The Junction itself

Boards start to take shape

Track laid out in rough position.

Boards painted, and track drawing pinned down and some trains!!

Point motors starting to go in

Some Gratuitous up board shots.. Droppers etc.. track feeds only here.

A Digitrax BDL168 on its board waiting more track feeds and its sister to sit next to it.

Ok to try and pre-empt some questions...

Its OO guage, its DCC controlled with a Digitrax Zephyr as command station.

It is being built to be controlled by PC with signalling and auto trains.

The track is planned and laid to be used as either 4 loops or as 2 long figure 8 loops or a combination.

The computer control with zone detection via the BDL168's will allow the trains to stop and obey signals (in the future) and as such not crash into each other over the junction (cross over)

There will be 3 platforms with the inside most one will have a wall along the back to seperate it from the running track on the inside loop.

The storage lanes are currently planned to hold 1 train each, up to 6 coaches in length.

and Before i forget and for those who have read alll the typing here is a video.

Give over will you?

I would have a heart attack trying to wire up that array of points and crossovers..!

When you stare at it you can actually see that it is quite simple, 2 lines crossing connected to 2 other lines. Very nice work on that, Planning it would have baffled me, no matter how simple it looks.

An amazing track plan, Will look great with some looong rakes running around!

Ryan.
