I tried that method and failed miserably. It is a very delicate process, and I am a bit clumsy, also it requires patience, which I don't have... If you are willing to take lots of time and trouble over it, it is worth the while and looks really good indeed. It is best to paint the matchsticks in a dark brown before assembling it together.

Great looking layout by the way!

Hi Tom

I just love all the muck caught up in the treads of the tractor tyres - brilliantly realistic! I'll have to have a go myself now!

Regards,
Gavin

Thank Gavin,

I just rolled the tractor through some brown 'sloppy' paint with some scatter and hey presto! I actually did it at the entrance to the field so there are tyre tracks leading in too, don't think you can see this from the picture though....

Thanks for your comments too PeterH.

Any other suggestions for making fencing?

Thanks

Hi Tom,

Great looking layout, and the idea with the tractor is spot on, it also sounds simple to reproduce on my layout.

But I think I've traced my ducks back to you mate, the culprit as caught on CCTV on the night of Wednesday 02/12/09 with those "It wasn't me Look"....
