Re: Frankland: N gauge Southern Railway
Thanks gents - really much appreciated
Dave - to get 10/10 from you has really made my day!
Did you watch the YouTube clip at the end of my post?
The bridge at the end of the video is the same one I took photos of last summer and posted in your 'Inspiration for Model Bridges' thread - did you recognise it?

Definately worth the wait.
Who'd have thought that modelling the underside of a bridge visible from a few angles would achieve such a sense of scale on what is a relatively small section of layout...
So glad you have paid attention to Daves postings over the months and applied that here, its really coming together into something quite extraordinary.

I think recognise the photo of the blue plate girder bridge below in your thread as the same one I visited on my "day on the tubes" thread.

& yes, your re-creation of that other bridge with the combination of arched girders & the colouring to the brick & mortar I'm HUGELY impressed with

Good also to know my thread on bridges has been a source of inspiration to both yourself, Zunnan & hopefully others

Yes, well it's much thanks to you as well Zunnan - it doesn't show up so well in the pictures - but the brickwork looks much better from where I sit than in the photographs with plenty of variation in colour and mortar lines. I think it's just my bad camera work.
You were instructive in helping me get this right and for that I thank you very much

Re: Frankland: N gauge Southern Railway
I have words from Dave rattling around in my head right now...'You can't do as much with bridges in N'
Once I've done this 3 arch bridge for the club I think I'll be revisiting some of my own now!

Lovely work as ever. The details really do give it all life. Keep up the good work.

Both the skill and the patience that sort of work takes is quite simply beyond my comprehension! Amazing.
Re: Frankland: N gauge Southern Railway
An inspiring level of detail and skill in this layout. Depicting a interesting subject which I haven't seen many people model especially not in N gauge.
I really look forward to seeing this layout progress.
I saw that you have some underground stations included in your plans for the layout. Do you have any plans to model any underground trains in the future as I would be interested to see if that can be done in N gauge?

Re: Frankland: N gauge Southern Railway
Thanks again for your comments gents, as always very much appreciated
OliverSR:
Sadly no underground trains on this layout - but I hope to on a future layout (maybe 5 or 10 years away). It can certainly be done in N gauge because the 2mm Copenhagen Fields layout has one, and there was a thread on RMWeb of someone working on N gauge underground trains, I think using 3D printing, although I may be mistaken on the process.

Just caught up on this thread again.
Fantastic scratch building.
The detailing on the bridges is excellent.

So glad to see Frankland again - I am very impressed with the bridgework and particularly the weathering of the brickwork and the faded posters - dedication to the hobby! Loved the the short clip - thought the cyclist had 'bought it' at 1:02 with the trams! Plus all the comings and goings that you just wouldn't see nowadays - Thanks for sharing!
“Sir, Sunday morning, although recurring at regular and well foreseen intervals, always seems to take this railway by surprise.”

Re: Frankland: N gauge Southern Railway
A great update, as usual.
The attention to detail is stunning
and your scratch-built structures are an inspiration. I hope I'll have the patience to someday build something so coherent and sophisticated as Frankland.
Already looking forward for your next update.
