Rheilffordd ffestwyn, 00-9

Postby olliereading1123 » Tue Aug 19, 2008 11:12 pm

to start off with, no prizes for guessing where the name came from.

ok, this is the start of my 00-9 attempt. i will be using stock from talyllyn and ffestiniog and have opted for a simple track plan, with an added twist.

track plan:
Image

ignoring the part that say's drawn using xtrkcad, the top is an arial track plan and the bottom is a side view showing board structure and the bridge.

Twist - the two red squares linked by black lines is actually a cable car system that i found in the back room of the shop, it is not fully mine yet and i will know for certain on saturday.

Progress so far:

this is my current stock

controller's snug fit
note - the images show a different track plan to the one in the above plan.

so, first impressions anybody

I think you're going to shame us all with the proportion of landscape to train! My only question would be: will it have enough operational interest for you ? If it does, go for it.

thanks,

blaqk - i will use what i did with forden, use polystyrene to create a base and then modroc it.

zarniwoop - this is designed with enough operational interest for me and to keep cost down, the scenic section only contains two lengths of flexi and one point. also i want this to represent a small country line so scenic is good

Looks like it could be a good scenic layout.

i'd like to see the cable car - would be something different

Very nice, are you going to get an operating cable car?

hi guys, progress on the layout has been slow due to me building the layout for next door.

the cable car was an operating system but i will not be having one anymore as it was tooooooo expensive.

i have been fiddling with the platform and the station building which is a prototype models kit. the platform is two pieces of balsa with metcalfe paving on the top and brick around the edge.

WE HAVE MOTIVE POWER!!!

Yes i have my first loco with thanks to blaqkaudio009 , presenting Yeo. i know it is not talyllyn or ffestiniog but he was available so why not.

Here a a fair few snaps of him running around the layout for my neighbours:

in the above the platform is visible in it's current stage, which isn't much.
