The lighting on these two is brilliant, really atmospheric!

do you use 1st raduis track on the inner circuit,if so what locos do you operate on it

Yes it is 1st radius (didn't know any better at the time :? ). I normally run small prairies (Bachmann) or small 0-6-0 tank or tender locos. The only time I run anything larger (5MT or 4MT tank) is if I'm retuning it to the shed in order to change over. While the 4MT tank will just about cope (I didn't fit all the extra details) the 5MT does sturggle on the curve.

Excellent picture, can I use it in a NRM Virtual exhibition ?

If you feel its good enough, then I have no objection. There are more photos in my Photobucket album, link posted under the initial posting.

I did very similar with my layout, and again, I used 1st radius, had I known better, I would have just used 2nd, 3rd, and 4th radius!

I've been doing a little town planning for the proposed scenic street scene I mentioned earlier. Here's how it looks so far.

and a couple of lower angle shots.

This may be subject to change, depending on how well it matches up the the main section, and before anyone mentions it, I do know that the backyards on the small block are off the plan. They are to replace a scratch built low relief building I'd already positioned before I had considered this extension.

Plus additional stock shots.

I think if there was a prize for the best use of set track and 'train set' power feeds you'd win hands down, the little ramps over the feed actually look 'right'.

you appear to have shown just what can be done with this stuff that many people would dismiss as 'toys'

the board is a tad cramped for my taste but thats what you get in 4mm in a small space, and frankly doesn't matter, you have plenty of operational potential and plenty of space to show stuff off.

the ballast and buildings are da*m fine as well, I'm going for a 'high detail' layout myself, I'd be very happy to get something that looks even half this good.

working magic :-)

A brief update. Work has started on the street scene extension:

just temorarily clamped in place to test how everything matches up.

Image
a little more detail

This corner is not yet finalised. The idea is that the side road leads, off scene, to the goods yard.

A back scene will be added when it arrives

It is not often I am compelled to make a random comment on the layouts pages, but something is making me post this to say.

Very nice job. Some lovely little details.

Bodgit & Scarper (builders of this parish) unfortunately ran short of material while building the wall in this shot, and are now on an extended tea break.

If they don't return soon, I may have to contact my solictors, Dewy, Fleecem and Howe. :D
