G'morning

This isn't so much of an update, more of a re-call. I noticed i have only put up the first plan of the layout, i have since altered it slightly and this is it below:

And this is a rough idea of the scenic idea:

I like that plan - loads of storage for trains to be constantly changing if you want - but an easy-on-the-eye, unfussy and relaxed scenic section. Lots of nicely-flowing curves too.
The only thing I noticed was lack of connection between main and local lines - what's the idea behind that?

Hi SouthernBoy,

The idea is that the lower 'local' line is a preserved railway (excuse to run my steamers), where as the upper 'main' line will feature all the modern traction. I have left them as two seperate curcuits for a number of reasons:
a) Although the mainline will deffinatley be DCC i may leave the preserved line analogue (to save me chipping the smaller locos)
b) If i do go digital i want to operate the two levels on different systems. I already have the Hornby Select, which i would use for the less busy preserved line, but i am wanting to get a more powerful system for the mainlines (most likely the Gaugemaster one)
c) Finally if i leave it as two seperate loops it would mean i could still have power to one whilst i worked on the other. So for example, i want to re-wire a section on the mainline, i could cut power to that but leave the preserved running without the risk of me shorting it through messed up wiring on the main.

Hope thats helped :)

Thanks - it just caught my curiosity (people usually have method in their madness) - and you've definitely got some well thought-through reasons for the set-up :)

These are the longest three roads and the stock shown is purely to indicate their size, these will most likely hold freight trains.

Feel free to question me :D
