Will watch this one with interest as Kidderminster was where I lived for 27 years, up until Nov last year then I turned to the dark side and moved to London.
(Just as well as being a manufacturing town the recession has hit it hard unfortunately).
Good luck

This is the update i said would have happened nearly 3 weeks ago!!
I now have the three main fiddle yard boards done, the longest road can handle a 15 coach train with room to spare!!!!
I've also chipped up my voyager so more to play with

Re: Ollie's New Layout Plan - Formerly Kidderminster
Right, due to Kidderminster not really progressing at a decent rate i have had a rethink. I realised that Kidderminster was mostly fiddleyard and the trains (especially the preserved line) didn't have much of a run, and also with the newer electric locos due in the future i wanted to utilise the dapol catenery system.
With all these in mind (plus the fact i still wanted to run modern and preserved) i came up with the following:
The layout is 1ft shorter than Kiddie, and 6inches wider and i have worked out that the scenic run of the mainline is 0.86 scale miles. There will be a mainline station where it divides into 4, and the area below will be a mpd/carriage store for the preserved line. I am still debating if i should have a station for the preserved line, have been thinking of a halt style platform near the bottom of the plan.
So any Thoughts???

Re: Ollie's New Layout Plan - Formerly Kidderminster
Hi mate
Why not make it a proper two levelledstation. It wasn't uncommon for there to be two stations-in-one on different levels. In this particular case you name the station- for argument's sake say you were to call it Kingsby Park, the 4-track mainlie station could be called Kingsby Park (Main Line) and sit atop former Kingsby Park(Low Level) platforms which are that have now been restored to their original condition (Be it LMR, LNWR, whichever) by- and are now thus used by- the preserved railway. This gives you scope to use yer imagination a bit and build a traditional station and contemporary structure side by side (well, one atop of the other at any rate )
Hope that helps
Tim

Update time, the baseboards are nearly complete. A fellow club member has built them for me and the following show where we are at so far.
And two with a 10 coach train to show how big the layout actually is
We're finishing off the boards tomorrow and will hopefully start track laying.
Cheers
Ollie

Hi Ollie,
That is some baseboard ! The quality looks first class.
Even at employee prices the track for all that's going to cost you !!

Re: Ollie's New Layout Plan - Formerly Kidderminster
The bank holiday and half term equals layout time I took the layout back over to the club room and Nick helped me out a bit more.
This is what the layout looked like Sunday morning
And by Monday afternoon we had the following
A fully raised mainline (except for the curves to the mainline fiddle yards which were finished off today)
Few with trains on
Another MASSIVE update is that track laying commenced today and the first train has been run, pictures will follow on sunday as my camera battery died tonight.
Enjoy
