been re-designing the fiddle yard for the SVR part of the layout, and managed to include the wrong track i ordered for the old design.

as with the other part the yellow track is what i have, without the track i have use in the other plan

Ta Da

EDIT

just noticed i haven't yellowed the points for SVR pltforms and should have pointed out that this FY will be raised abobe the main line one

CONSTRUCTION HAS STARTED!!!!

due to a new project they are bringing in at college i have decided to use my layout as my project. this has encouraged me to start construction now so i have 1 year to complete it.

so if a mod could move this to the "under construction" section i will post the pics of the first boards

Not much of an update but...

- A few more of the boards have frames.
- I have renumbered an poole farish prairie from 8102 to 4150 (SVR Loco)
- I have fitted some MBM couplings to two of my wagons, very fiddly but worth it.
- Started to build a NGS Mica van kit, just got the chassis to build.
- Also got a NGS Lowmac kit which i need to build then figure out how to add the MBM's

i am still waiting for my extra points, but there will be pics soon

I thought i would post some images on how i am making the board joins.

to start of with i cut the wood to size, the ones shown below are two end pieces for the lowr fiddle yard boards. I first drilled a hole between the two as shown.
Image

this hole is for one set of locaters shown below.
Image

the first locaters are hammered into the holes then another set of holes are drilled on the other side.
Image

and then the second se are hammered, the opposite way to the first.
Image

next i drilled two more moles for the screw system, they made of several pieces (right) and when assembled look like the one on the left.
Image

And the completed piece.
Image
Image

for £15 i get enough bits do to 5 joins, good value me thinks

Same method that joins my two boards together, and seems to work very well so far

An ambitious plan, but not impossible - have a look at my layout thread to see what we achieved in 9 months without devoting every spare minute to it, and how it stands now. You may not have all the scenery complete by then, but then no layout is ever complete, there's always that "what if . . . " lurking

Good luck with it mate!!!

cheers sprintex,

i've been watchin your layout progress and i'm very impressed with how it's going.

I have though about the fact that i have limited time so i have a backup idea for the project which is just the station building itself as i tink it will be a lovely model, especially with that canopy roof it has.

Some serious planning gone into that Ollie and interesting reading. Will keep an eye on this and watch it develop. Good work so far though mate and best of luck with it.

ALL CLASS 50`S SHOULD BE CUT UP INTO SMALL PIECES AND USED FOR SOMETHING MORE USEFUL LIKE A PAPER-WEIGHT
