Thanks Tim.
Some pics of recent work. PW yard:

Station canopies:

I've also done some work on the embankment to the west of MARSHFIELD station.

The retaining walls were made from plasticard, with SKALEDALE end walls. I'm pleased with the buttress. Much weathering to do yet.

love your use of cork. It was in fact the photographs on this thread of your work and your achievements with it that led me to reconsider my complicated card, plaster and Artex plans and instead use the more traditional material. And I'm very glad I did - it worked very well. But I only did so because I had seen how successfully you incorporated it into your layout, so thanks for that!
Cheers,
Gavin

I've put up a vid on YouTube, shot with my mobile so the quality is dubious. However it does illustrate how busy MARSHFIELD is these days!
Locos featured:
33019 - Up main - vans to Bristol
KESTREL - down main - express to Cardiff
37254 - Up Relief - vacuum-braked coal train
D1067 - Down Relief - Bristol to Cardiff local
37238 - Inner freight line - HEA coals to BUTE WHARF
Soundtrack by 24 035!

I thought that it was quite good from a mobile
Five trains running at one time, it looks like all the early disillusionment with DCC has evaporated with time

I've put a fair bit of work into the last remaining corner section recently .... in this shot the DMU is en route MARSHFIELD, having called at Ely Bridge High Level. The Western speeds towards Cardiff with a Class 1 passenger from Paddington, whilst FALCON emerges from the steelworks complex and waits for the road onto the frieght loop.

The scenic section is completely removable to allow access to the trackwork beneath. I've still got plenty of work to do on the METCALFE card houses. I've weathered the watertower and pipework in the steelworks using black aerosol paint.

A few more pics of the BUTE TUNNEL area. I've completed ballasting the track on the high level causeway section.

I love the Western on the clay hoods.

'Bill' Cookworthy on the Causeway ...

I've also done a lot of work on the awkward-to-photograph Up corner.

Note the 'Bisto' pot adapted for steelworks use! Soon to be covered in pipes.

Great to see you're still keeping at it! This is one of the layouts I love receiving emails about - I actively look forward to updates. The modelling is of such a consistantly high standard, it's just lovely. Please keep up this fantastic work - it's genuinely inspirational.
Regards,
Gavin

Hi Dave
Nice one mate. That corner's really starting to take shape. Have you decided how to finish off the incline down to the lower level? Concrete retainers or somat maybe?
Cheers
Tim

A corner piece that's just before the corner. How cools that?
The whole area is very interesting and complex. Nice one Dave
