Shillelagh Station, A layout in n-gauge

Postby Paddy D » Tue Mar 11, 2008 10:26 pm

I started on this layout a few mounths ago and i have finily decided to model the termius on a end of branch line that once ran 1/2 mile from my house

The line is the woodenbridge-aughrim-shilleligh branch line that the landlord of collatin biult.

in 1944 it was closed. but the stations remain and the most of the terminus as well.

i am modelling the termius in shilleligh for the layout as it was for the line has always fasinated me a lot

Here is the link to some pictures of the station today

Good start buddy! I love the research/history. Any chance of a track plan? Keep up the good work! :)

@Paddy D

My Great Grandfather was station master at Woodenbridge!!!

My Grandmother was born and bred in Woodenbridge, in the house right at bridge, which had the line run right pass the front of it (literally in the yard)!!

She is now 94 years old and my Dad remembers this branchline very well and used to get trips up the line to Aughrim by the drivers!!

I'll follow your progress with interest and if I can get some info for you I'll pass it on!!

Have fun,

Nitemare :lol:
