i think it would be possible with some but not with others due to motors and different gearing of locos. I have tried it once before.... and i think it blew something in the controller. ill look in it it once the weather goes away, but it may not until im away on holiday.

Re: Horsted Keynes - East Ginstead, Met coach

Postby mattmay05 » Thu Aug 12, 2010 3:50 pm

Hello

Just been recolouring one of the first Met coaches which were one of the first to be expiremented on, since then 3 other kits were purchased, and the first coach was the odd one out being more red in colour. I decided to change that, so I stripped it back primed, re-coloured and fitted transfers and additional weight.

Heres a before and after:

A few more mineral wagons turned up this morning to be added to the freight stock, now bringing the total up to 6.

Why have you put Scottish numbers and plates on 80151? the real thing doesn't have them.
I'm back and now I model in 'Strain your eyes gauge'...

Anyway the Met coach isn't exactly a met coach, considering the only way to get a met coach was to spend £40 odd on a brass kit, i can't really afford that amount, so i had to find a solution and looking at the Ratio Suburban coach kits I think they are called, i decided they were close enough to what i wanted so i brought 4, white primer, added some wood stain which i thought was close, let that dry and added, some bars over the door windows and highlighted parts in gold paint, of course they are not 100% accurate but they look similar and do the job.

Transfers were from a london transport site, ill have to find them out as i dont have them to hand at this present moment,

Hope that helps

Thank you, I dont have as much money to do the models to exact spec but i feel on a budget its the best I can do, and is achieveable by anyone.
