Don't mind questions mate - pleased to help:
The depth is 9mm.
The bays are made up of units 50mm in length - 6 are supplied so you can have them as long as required, they slot together easy and a little glue holds them in place.
A gap 15mm wide (by however long) is required to 'sink' the bays in.

The pits are by Peco, they are available for 100 code track and 75 code track (finescale). One pit per pack. I bought mine from Hattons*

*Other model shops are available.
