Dave K's old layout
Dave K's old layout
Hello! At last I have moved house and have space to put a layout. This will be my first proper one and will be based around Scotland 1988-90. The idea is that Eastfield North is an overflow depot for Eastfield proper and will also have a bunch of siding for receiving and preping freight for their trips South or to/from respective Scottish facilities - wood/cement/coal/etc.
The area I'm using covers 5ft by 10 ft and will use 9mm Sundela board as the base board with a standard timber frame to support it. I have both board and timber and now need to make measurements to make sure I have good support through the layout for the Sundela and that no joints foul proposed point motors.
I am planning to use Gaugemaster Prodigy DCC to power the whole thing, despite the cost of having to chip all my loco's. The track will be Peco 100, using electro frog points and one doubleslip.
I'll load photo's when I get the chance!

Yes it is mate, I've measured up and it can only be 32" off the ground to fit under the sloping wall. I can't use the whole room as there is a door on the far left which gives access to the water tank/hot water elements - so access is required for their replacement/overhaul as water tanks aren't small things to move! So unfortuantely this is as big as I can go.
The layout might mutate - the siding may have other siding coming off them, I'll have to see how I feel like once the boards and rough track plans are in place!

Thanks for the feedback guys!
Yeah - nice carpet the previous house owners left for us!!
The central focus of the layout is the depot and yard, so it will have that general depot feel to it with the two side leeking out into possibily industrial or city life - havent 100% decided on scenery. Possible left hand will disappear into a cutting and the right through the obligatory road bridge. As the layout is set just north of Eastfiled (Bishopsbrigg) it will have adefinate urban feel to it, although srtist licence means I can change parts of it as I see fit!
Cut the wood for the second frame yesterday, so hope to have all frames glued 'n' screwed by the end of the week.

I believe you.
Now sarcasm is difficult to pick up on over the internet.
I can't think why, but I'm picking some up in Dave's comment right there..
Do I detect a hint of sarcasm there?
No!
Good luck with the layout by the way.
