N gauge 2012 wish list.
N gauge 2012 wish list.
Ok peeps what are you predictions for 2012? I think this year we will see DCC fitted locos given the new digital comuter set. I would also asume that the 2EPB will be hot on the heals of the 4CEP. Thats it as far as educated guess work goes for me. What I would LIKE to see is...
Standard 4mt 4-6-0
N class
bullied coaches
revamped super duper 57xx (a bachmann staple)
LNER 04 ROD

Re: N gauge 2012 wish list.
From Farish a 2 EPB seems logical. I am hopefully that City of Truro might follow in the footsteps of Deltic and go through the shrink machine.
Dapol have a fairly full schedule for 2012 with both SR and LNER pacifics, the GWR 2884, Pacer, class 56. They have also strongly hinted at some Maunsell coaches and an improved batch of Mk2 Halls. They apparently have 1 extra kettle and 1 diesel to announce. My bet for the diesel would be either a 27 or 33 as this would be a logical follow-on from the 26. For the kettle, my bet is on a Clan. They have stuff for SR, LNER and GWR already. They seem to be leaving the LMS alone as it is Farish's "turf" at the moment so another standard would be logical.

To an optimist, a glass is half-full.
To a pessimist, a glass is half-empty.
To an engineer, the glass is twice as big as necessary.

Re: N gauge 2012 wish list.
A2 makes a lot of sense for Farish, the wheels are the same size as the B1 and much of the rest is like the A1. I'd hope a new 25 (or 25s, given the different body types) would be ahead of exotics like the 17 & 28.
Re: N gauge 2012 wish list.
From Farish..
Class 70s on a very hot wash
170s DCC ready with directional lights ditto 158s
37s in EWS, large logo and maybe DRS to go with the nuclear flasks?
umm...
new West Country/BoB ? The current one just looks primitive
105s?
Dapol
I hope they decide to go ahead with the pendolinos, but not holding my breath

Re: N gauge 2012 wish list.
I live in Faversham, the junction which splits from London giving passengers the option of either Canterbury and Dover or Margate and Ramsgate. In its time it had engine shed (now listed but in a terrible state), wagon repair shed, goods shed, turntable, marshalling sidings and a branch to further sidings down by the creek and owner sidings nearby. It still has four platforms.
I have a newspaper picture [(c) R C Riley] looking towards the sheds and I can count 10 class C's at least. The picture was taken at some time after grouping but before BR
I would dearly love to see this class represented and with a selection of transfers for running numbers.
(Incidentally I also have an earlier picture taken I think before 1904 showing the station with a bay platform.)
So my choice is a Class C for the true southern steam modeller

Re: N gauge 2012 wish list.
My predictions are as follows:
Farish
Revamped Deltic
Revamped 25
I hope that they send the Super D or SDJR 7F through the shrinker
2EPB
DCC Fitted models.
Mk2's
Dapol:
Class 27 (no i promise i don't know any insider info
)
The Modified Halls
Maunsell Coaches would be nice

I must admit, a DCC ready class 170 with all the bells and whistles would be nice!
A 185 would be a definite purchase from me aswell!

Re: N gauge 2012 wish list.
The super D would be good. What I would like to see is heljan have a punt with N. With success in 00 and O it seems no more of a risk and could increase there profits. A farish production deltic seems logical.

Re: N gauge 2012 wish list.
Seems like people are giving both 'prediction' and 'wish' lists. I doubt that any new models will exclusively be steamy, fortunately, (or all modern) and that the manufacturers will give more balance to what they produce. But from a 'wish' list point of view I'd like to see more third rail EMUs;
* 4 SUB
* 4 DD
* 5 BEL
* 2 EPB
* 4 VEP
* 4 CIG
* 5 WES
* Class 455
* Class 456
and so on.............

Re: N gauge 2012 wish list.
Strangely I don't think I'm wishing for any loco's this year, I think a 33 and an 2 EBP are probably just over the horizon.
I have two simple wishes, first of all new mk2 coaches on par with the new mk1's we have and the mk3's too.
And a commercially easy to source code 40 third rail and chair similar to cut down insulated joiners with a peg underneath (if anyone from peco is reading this cough,cough,cough)
I think 2012 will see even more growth in our gauge,,,,,

That would certainly be very nice but I guess it's not quite a 'given' yet bearing in mind the current dire economic conditions. However, it'd make a good discussion point/thread, and probably better than the old 'wish list' stuff.
So what do people foresee regarding growth in our gauge? Will it happen, how will it happen, what is the future..........???

one thing i do see happening in the future is wider recognision of the features of DCC and RTR DCC sound fitted locomotives appearing, may not happen right away but it has been more and more popular in 00 and given the room left by more modern mechinisms in N gauge loco's easier to design,,,,
