There's a ModelZone on Deansgate.

Depends how you define "in Manchester". City centre there's Modelzone on Deansgate and the Ian Allen shop on the station approach at Picadilly. Further out there's Locoshed just by Besses o' the Barns tram stop. Further afield but still within a tram ride there's the shop at ELR's Bury Street station and in the opposite direction Waltons of Altrincham. There are probably others but as I live in Warwickshire and only come to Manchester when my wife is working there, my explorations are limited to where I can get on a cheap day Metro Card.

done well there bufferstop, does indeed depend how you define Manchester. are you after city centre, surrounding areas, or the county of greater manchester (yes i know technically speaking it's not a county, just easier to say it is)
Also have shops in Bolton centre, Horwich, Trafford Centre, i "think" their may still be one in Urmston. Sadly i could name as many shops that have closed down as well :-(

Hi

The two Modelzone shop in Manchester one in City centre on Deansgate and the other is Trafford Centre but all price in modelzone are retail price so if u what going to buy something to be penning be more. They also a Ian allen shop near Piccadilly Staion if u go in that shop u need to go upstair but to me they don't sell they much. The one I go to is in Shaw (Oldham) called Arcadiarail what I buy my stuff and it little shop but sell all Hornby, Bachmann and Farish also Dapol.

can't say i know of them doing it, doesn't mean they don't, but i would be surprised, the guys in modelzone mostly seem to be 12, and wouldn't know what a DCC chip was if it jumped into bed with them.
however some very resonable postal services for chiping.
BUT, have you considered giving it a go yourself, it's not too difficult, and loads of advice on this forum and accross the web.

Waltons in Altrincham and Locoshed do for sure. I know it's pathetic but I haven't a clue which bit of Manchester Locoshed is in, I just get off the tram at Besses and turn left when I reach the pavement.

The UK Modelshops Directory shows you exactly where each shop is located. They also have another section which shows you those shops that specialise in DCC. http://www.ukmodelshops.co.uk/retailers ... pecialists

The one in Brum is on two floors as well... Worth a visit and 2 minutes from New Street...

Anyone else remember Beatties in Manchester... Used to be a great shop, but now long gone...
