Hello all

Postby peterjg » Fri Feb 05, 2021 8:10 pm

Hi everyone.
My first railway was a second hand Hornby Dublo bought by my Dad in the mid 50s,this gives you some Idea of my age, sadly I have no idea what happened to it, probably sold when we moved to a smaller property.
I make an annual trip to our local society's exhibition where I marvel at the models there thinking I would never have the time or patience to build anything like that. After doing all the jobs in the house and garden during lock downs I have decided to build a railway. So far I have a base board 7x4ft with Peco track in a double oval with some sidings not very original but will do for now, one loco and three Hornby carriages S/H from Ebay.
I have discovered things are not as straight forward as they used to be and have encountered some problems already. Hopefully some more experienced members can offer advice.
When I have located the correct forum sections I will post.
Many thanks in anticipation

Welcome peterjg, don't worry overmuch about getting the questions in the right forums, they'll still get answered and we can soon shift them to the right place.
Best Regards, & keep safe.

Are you wanting to take on the role of a butcher in Coronation Street.
I said, I'll say it again !!

Sorry I'm in that sort of silly mood.

Welcome peterjg, we like a bit of a laugh at times. We take our railway modelling
seriously, but not THAT serious.
When you ask a question remember there are often many differing views on how
something should be done.

Geoff T.
Now they'll wonder what the heck you are on about. I remembered the double post and me supposedly deleting it. So I went downstairs and remebered rushing upstairs to catch the postie, on the screen it said "do you wish to delete this post Y/N, or words to that effect. So I clicked on Y and miraculously it was still sufficiently connected to delete it. Anyone wondering what the postie was doing upstairs that's where the front door is, the kitchen door is on the side and the backdoor is in the dungeon where I keep the trains
Remember ... I know nothing about railways.

Thanks to everybody for the warm welcome.

Dad 1 you are right about differing views as I have been doing online research I have found that, at least here you can ask for advice on a specific question.
