Returning to model railway and saying hello

Postby Shuntyman » Tue Feb 07, 2017 10:39 pm

Hello there, I have had a couple of 00 layouts over the years and now that I have the advantageous combination of a garage and an understanding partner i'm returning to the hobby in n gauge.

Currently starting to amass track, stock and kits while tinkering on xtrkcad and drooling over dcc sound which was only just beginning to show itself the last time I was running trains. Every time i see an n gauge class 08 dcc sound loco on youtube i simply can't accept it. The hobby has truly come on leaps and bounds in the last few years.

Hopefully i'll share some layout ideas soon and will invite your comments.

Welcome to the forum, looking forward to seeing how you get on.

With the DCC sound you get people on both sides of it but until you get one for yourself you wont really know if its for you or not. I have two sound fitted locos and enjoy running them every now and again but doubt i will get others sound fitted.

Not a clue how they manage it all in N anyway i can only just fit it all in in 00

Hi and Welcome.
I too am returning after many years away (like 25 or so).
The changes are incredible and the possibilities so much improved on my earlier trainset layout.
Good luck for the development of your layout, always plenty of help on here...

Hi and welcome Shunty,

Personally I am working towards making all my locos DCC sound, best to take advantage of the improvements to the hobby.
I am also starting to get back into the hobby, even joined a local railway club which is giving me somewhere to run my trains while I get info on building my layout.

Hope you enjoy yourself here, always up for a chat! :-)

Rico.
