Returning to the hobby

Postby Andycotswold » Sat Nov 26, 2016 5:07 pm

Hey everyone, I'm returning to modeling after along break due to kids and work commitments, plus lack of space which thankfully has now all been sorted out.
I'm working in 00 scale and will be doing a fairly small layout of 4x10 plus an extension on the side adding about 4ft X 2ft which is joined by a narrow run

Welcome aboard Andycotswold,

For inspiration look through a few of the Layouts under construction threads.
Best to work out what you fancy making before investing in any stock. Frequently
we change our minds, but best to think now to save money later !!

Hello and welcome, Andy.

4x10 at least has better potential than the Devil's tablecloth of the Hornby trackmat, and while the world isn't quite your oyster in that space, you have quite a variety of choices and styles of railway open to you.
Can I ask how many sides of that 10 x 4 you will have access to (or how many up against a wall?)
It's one of the factors in deciding what will be nice rather than nasty in the long run.
