Re: I must stop spending!
I finally gave into months of temptation and bought one of those lovely Heljan Class 128 DPUs in BR green with small yellow panels & Midland style fronts (M55989) from Hattons, and yes it is going on Gateside and Northbridge. Not a Scottish vehicle? - Don't care, I say one was loaned to the Scottish Region in 1965 for a while and that is that

This Signature Left Intentionally Blank, but since I have written this and I intended to do it, this Signature is intentionally not blank. Paradox or What?

Good for you Jim.

Did you know eleven class 52s made their way north and can be seen in and out of Glencairn on a regular basis

Re: I must stop spending!
Over the last few weeks I bought various bits of Lima Deltic to make up a complete loco (Royal Scots Grey in rail blue).
I already had the bogies in my spares box and first of all bought the chassis with the intention of motorizing a Dapol kit, however the assembled chassis ran so nicely I instead bought a spare body.
Total cost was about £12 plus added entertainment of parking it along side my Bachmann Deltic.

Re: I must stop spending!
Just last night I fell into a trance and bought a lovely old Lima Warship which had been repainted from BR blue back to maroon and detailed and weathered up a bit. It set me back a tenner - an horrendous splurge thankfully paid for by the sale of an old Class 33 which wasn't really my thing. It wasn't the buyer's thing either but he couldn't turn it down at a tenner. These are Euro prices btw - not Sterling. I think €10 in Sterling is about two shillings and fourpence.
Then the other day I went a bit mad and bought a guitar effects pedal. I don't play guitar much in public anymore (back in the day I was a rather hirsute rocking and rolling type of person of the heavily metallic and punk variety) and now like to play Irish folk music on the bouzouki when not building models with a glass of wine and half a bar of chocolate stuffed into my mouth. The pedal, though, is a bit of a mad thing. For those in the know it's a cross between a vocoder and a dynamic filter. For those not in the know if you play an electric guitar into it it turns every note into a sound like somebody singing in Japanese. I swear to God...

This has gone 'slow' is it a sign money is tight ?
Perhaps like me you have almost everything you need ....... But ......
Somehow a box arrived today with a Bachmann 5MT, bought at a bargain
price.
All I really needed were a couple of packets of Bachmann couplings to go on
to wagon kits I've got here. My 2 packets of couplings cost me £105 with
P&P, how was I to resist a new 5MT at £89 and I really needed to add something
to make the purchase worthwhile ?
Trouble is I'll now need another decoder ..............

Re: I must stop spending!
I need some 10BA screws and some Romford axle bushes, but I'm reluctant to see who's got some because of what else I might find. I've already got an order in for the Hornby Peckett in Manchester Ship Canal livery, looks like it may turn into a Christmas present to myself. If it's as good a runner as the diesel Sentinel it will be worth the wait.

I needed something to run on my soon to be electrified branch line.
And it was only £72 (ignore the decoder, 12m of peco code 60 and rail chairs)

The Heljan Class 128 DPUs at £59 on a certain Liverpool-based box-shifter's website are looking ever more tempting, as are the new batches of Classes 15 and 17.

What is the make and model of the pedal you bought please Boxcar Willie?
I do love playing with vocoders.

Thanks

Re: I must stop spending!
I bought 5 packs of Kadee NEM couplers and a Kadee height gauge. Also got some tools, a book on layouts (for inspiration), PECO loco lift and servicing cradle and treated myself to a beautiful hornby S&DJR 4-4-0 Fowler 2P class by Hornby. To go with my S&DJR Jinty. Now just need some DCC decoders for them
As for how much this all set me back, well....... about $300 AUD (so approx 150 pounds). Not bad actually, Hobbyco 10% member discount does help

Re: I must stop spending!
Must say that Ive been frugal recently.
Bought a Duchess of Hamilton N gauge from Chief & only considering another A4 body for my TTS Gadwall to replace the existing shell.
