Hello.
I am in need of some help. I have build a DCC layout in OO guage using a Gaugemaster Prodigy Advance control system. The problem I have is that the controller light keeps flashing and my loco’s will not run. I have checked and rechecked all connections to try and find if there is a short but without success.
If there is anyone out there who can help I am more than happy to pay for their services before I completely lose the plot.
If you are able to help me please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Please note that I am fairly new to this hobby and I really need some support.
Thanks in anticipation.

Hi
The first thing to do is pull out the green plug in the rear of the base unit then power up the PA. Does the display still flicker?.....
Yes it still flickering, Check the cable connections at each end base unit and handset. If all looks ok contact Gaugemaster.
No its now steady and no longer flickering, then the problem is somewhere after the base unit in the wiring to and around the layout or on the tracks. Carefully check all for possible cross connection or something shorting the rails somewhere.

Hi,have you had it running fine in the past and has just developed this problem or is this the first time you have connected it up ,also did you fit dropper wires to a bus wire ,,if you have then check they are all connected correctly ,IE,,red to red black to black ,just one wrong will cause a short .
Also, does it short out with all your LOCOS or just one .

Hi.
I have checked all the wiring but I am wondering if it is the wiring of the electrofrog points.
Cheers

Re: Help required please.
Have you fitted insulating rail joiners (IRJs) to the point's frog rails?

Re: Help required please.
Hi. I have fitted insulated rail joiners and broken the two wires on the underside of the points. I have also soldered two small wires to connect the rails.
Re: Help required please.
So did the green plug out allow the PA to power up correctly?
I assume you have not allowed the soldered on link wires to touch each other? Double check all closure rail underside bonding wires have been cut fully - a Stanley / Kraft knife blade in the gap and pressed down will ensure that the wire has broken It will also ensure all the closure rail gaps are open - I've had them close up!
