This motor came in a lot of O and Gauge 1 motors I purchased, it's quite large and for a 1/4" axle so I'm guessing Gauge 1?
After lots of searching online I'm still none the wiser so wondered if anyone here may recognize it.
Could anyone help identify this old large scale motor?

It's not a Romford type, or at least not a Romford motor that I happen to have seen! Other manufacturer names that come to mind that might well have made open frame motors are Bonds, Leeds, Milbro. (Never really dabbled in O or larger...)

Thank you both for the suggestions, I'd looked at Bonds and Leeds Model Company but can't find anything similar they used. I've just looked on the excellent Milbro Model Railways site (thanks again) which shows assorted vintage O gauge motors from various manufactures but still drawing a blank on this particular one.
Shame as it's in good condition and runs well, I'm sure it would be more useful to someone else rather than sitting in my spares box. However, it would be difficult to find that someone when I don't have a clue what it's from.

Well you never know, with the good photographs just offering it for sale may find a buyer.

I thought Mibro initially, but possibly not. Put it on RMWeb and you'll probably get an answer in minutes.

Thanks Tony, that was the first place I tried to ask the question on but every time I attempt to make an account it comes up with a error message.

You are not alone! I have an account on RMweb, but since the softwarwe was upgraded it doesn't want to know me. So I am having a holiday from the hurly burly for a week or three...
