2019 Annual Wishlist Poll

Postby SRman » Sat Oct 12, 2019 12:19 am

The 00 Wishlist Poll 2019

The 00 Wishlist Poll runs from 14 October to 2 November at: http://www.rmweb.co.uk

The Poll provides railway modellers and collectors with an easy and informed way of indicating to makers and commissioners of 00 ready-to-run models which models they would realistically buy if made at some time in the future from all-new tooling (excluding models since 1 January 2005).

Voting covers steam, diesel and electric locos; DMUs; EMUs; passenger and non-passenger-carrying coaching stock; freight and departmental stock. The Industrial and Underground categories have gone, enabling many new items of ‘core content’. Pollsters can now make suggestions for re-makes of some items made since 2005.

The Poll has an accompanying Guide which is particularly useful for checking such as the build dates of the various BR Mk1 catering vehicles, or whether one particular diesel shunter will suit your needs better than others.

The Poll Team email is: thepollteam@gmail.com

I hope this is acceptable posting this here: I am a member of the Poll Team, although none of the members of the Team have any vested interests in running the Poll.

Please have a look and have your say as to what you would like to see produced in the future.

That Bachmann would hurry up and release the 009 Quarry Hunslet 0-4-0 'Dorothea' Dorothea Quarry Lined Green.

Further on this theme, I have been informally tracking the items I am interested in since 2009, and the large majority of what has been asked for appears in RTR, after a significant time lag. Quite how much of this would have happened anyway is impossible to know, but I feel there is an effect.

The wishlist doesn't have a 'please get on with it' button. ;-)

(I wasn't remotely aware they even had this item in their announced products list, so that's an education.)

Not currently having a layout, for the first time in years I have nothing that I am really wishing for.

This Signature Left Intentionally Blank, but since I have written this and I intended to do it, this Signature is intentionally not blank. Paradox or What?

I'd love a C2X myself. Put your votes into the poll - if these are already listed then tick them, if not, add them at the end where there is room for requests.

Still nothing from the North Staffs Railway, then again, I suppose I'd be a bit annoyed if anything was manufactured as it would show up my scratch-built efforts!

:? Hmmm a reaction I may have had at times, but think how long you would have been without one if you'd just waited for someone to produce it RTR.

I do feel it is weird thing, that from within the LMS group the coverage is so poor. The choice is essentially Midland or LMS group standard designs. Just considering locos, from 'elsewhere' in this huge group one genuinely LNWR model, one broadly useful L&Y model, and that's it. At least there's the clearly LNWR in origin although LMS built G2A as well, and the CR is getting a look in next year with an 0-6-0 announced. But compared to the LNER and SR groups the coverage of the pre-group constituents of the LMS is poor. Are the manufacturers right, and few are interested?

Is this a consequence of the "small engine policy", apart from the "Black Fives" and the Pacifics it seems to me their was little on the LMS registers for enthusiasts to get excited about, just a lot of relatively small but adequate work horses. The most recognisable feature of being in the once Midland territory is the diagonal fencing and the double fronted station buildings, even the missus recognises them today.
