14XX axle box/springs

Postby 61xx » Wed Jun 12, 2019 2:56 pm

Where can I get cast white metal Axle boxes & springs for 14XX trailing wheels, I am building a chassis for. I have searched and cannot find anyone to supply them. I can't believe nobody makes them....

I have found some axle boxes amongst my bits and pieces, I will make some springs and hangers if I have no luck with castings.

Hi 61xx,

Try Wizard models. They do chassis etches for the 14xx so might have the parts you need.

I have looked at Wizards list couldn't see any specifically for the 14XX, but there are various gwr tender axleboxes, which I think I could use if I extend the spring hangers.
Thank you for the suggestion Jim.

Would the plastic ones do from the chassis I had from you?

The plastic ones would have done the trick, but in the meantime I spoke to Andrew at Wizard, and he said he had the axle boxes, even though I searched the Wizard list on the internet and couldn't find any.
He sent me a complete list of products so that is good.
