Hattons Raising Funds

Post by Bufferstop »

Hattons have just emailed out a newsletter promoting their sale of overstocked items. I'd say they are raising funds to pay for the next shipments of their "own brand" specials. Normal business practise but all the better for us. It's a long time since I saw a coach for under a tenner and a wagon at £3.50. Those might be Railroad items but some of the locos are in the order of 30% off the original listed price. Smokey Joes and Calley Pugs for less than the price of the chassis should be welcome in the 0/16.5 world.

I am so depressed ..............
I went through the list and really only 1 item was of interest to me - Why ?
I suppose I must have almost everything I want.
Can you understand why I feel depressed .............

This must be why I'm not exactly my old self. I need help !!

This looks more like the annual Hornby clearout, where they use hattons to dispose of unsold stock. Same thing happened last year, many, same items. I went through hoping to spot a bargain, but with no success

Hornby used to have really good sales on their site but it undercut model shops who didn’t appreciate it which put an end to it

I’ve not ordered anything from them since

Those of you with 00 gauge terminus stations take a look at the hydraulic buffer stops. :)

Many have been on sale for some time, not so much as a Hornby clearout than a Hattons warehouse clearout with the amount of Bachmann, Dapol and Heljan included. Some items reduced which certainly have not been reduced significantly before like Heljan 07s. These things tend to spread so well worth keeping an eye on the likes of Rails and Kernow as quite often Hattons prices are not the cheapest. Interesting number of their 14/48/58xx's included so maybe they have not sold well.

I wondered if it was certain livery’s that didn’t sell so well, I am into weathering but the heavy weathered 14xx looked a bit much even for me

Hi Mike Parkes,

I had one of their 48XX and it didn't run well at all.
Sent back and received full credit. I would still like one, but I'm
not prepared to take the chance.
Just look at the 96 pages on RMW !

Seems to be a recurring theme djm. I've a austerity and a 71, both are poor.

I picked up an 03 shunter for less than I'd been prepared to pay on eBay. Well pleased, although HSBC might not be so chuffed.

The hornby railroad wagons and coaches are pretty well priced (providing one avoids the 4 wheel coach chassis!)

The bachmann triple wagon packs aren't heavily discounted but do look good.
