Still Guard according to the Rule Book, Conductor, Senior Conductor and Train Manager are just each companies names for the Guard, with varying levels of responsibility.

Regarding model point operation I have no hard or fast preferences, though I do beieve that if a layout is exhibited it should not have visible points worked by the hand in the sky, same as coupling and uncoupling. For a viewer of a layout it can ruin the image of what they builder is trying to achieve. I use whatever method is most convenient for the layout I'm building, whether that is electric point motor or wire in tube (or similar) methods. Hand operated points are found only in my fiddle yards where they are not seen except by people who take a peek round the back!
