Self adhesive numbers

Post by dan8400 »

Hi everyone,

I am after some small self adhesive numbers for my mimic panel. I have some isolated sections and the switches for these are remote. I could do with some 3 or 4mm numbers, like what used to come with blank VHS tapes (if anyone remembers what I'm talking about)

Thanks

Here you go. I wired up my whole recording studio using these on the cables. Made from "vinyl cloth" too for extra strength

Thanks End2end, they look ideal.

What size are they approximately?

Thanks

Theres 2 types included in the pack. Single numbers at roughly 4mm wide and 5mm tall and longer vertical pieces with the same number repeated below itself twice like this
4
4
4
These are approximatly 4mm wide by 15mm tall. But you can cut them down to single numbers as well.
I've wired more than 5 recording studios with these. Normal plastic cable numbers are beyond the scope of most small studios, being used in larger professional studios and editing facilities so these self adhesive numbers make a great cheaper alternative.
Hope it helps

My pleasure. ;)
If it helps I could cut you a couple off and send them to you before purchasing so you can see exactly if they fit your needs.
Thanks

That's a very generous offer, but from the measurements you have given I am pretty sure they are a winner.

I will see if I can pick some up this week.

Thanks

Same for you glencairn. If you'd like a sample of them just pm me your address. ;)
Thanks

EDIT: The triple stacked numbers are excellent for wrapping around cables for indentification. If they start to peel off (a few of the cables in my studio are fly leads so get moved often so I've done this with them) just wrap some clear sellotape round them. :D
Thanks

For my panels I use these. They are rub down type. The only disadvantage of them is you need to spray your panel with varnish after you have finished marking up everything. They are extremely easy to use though.

As dan8400 say, that is a kind offer and like him, I shall just order some, but thanks all the same.

Search for a Dymo or Brother label printer, for as little as £20 and various colours and widths of labels available (approx £10ea)
Not a cheap option, but very professional looking and very useful for labelling many other things.

I agree with Timbersurf, Dymo machine is very useful for all sorts of things around the house/workshop/train layout.

Search on the net for replacement tape cartridges - they can be much, much cheaper than buying from shops. My last one only cost me £2.95 for a genuine 9mm X 8 metre black on white one. For those that don't know, the 9mm dimension is the width of the tape, not the size of the type.
