I like your website.
You have worked with something I have touched on yet, the MP3 decoders.
I want to have link in with my DCC so it will play station announcements as the trains approach.

Thank you m.levin, nice to actually get some feedback!
The MP3 decoders are very cheap, so worth a punt to experiment with and would be very easy to fire on command, you could use a DCC accessory decoder to fire it, but for a station, might be easier with just a light beam trigger, as it pulls in.

Layouts going to be computer contolled again, so when a loco enters a block I can get it to activate the mp3 decoder. I was looking at cheap digitrax sound decoders, but cheap is £25-35.

You should read this thread viewtopic.php?f=7&t=45767
Another option is an arduino as a DCC to world interface?

I have seen those mono boards on Ebay for 99p another 99p for a Micro SD card and have 1 per station, for announcement's.
Then link the play button to a relay and then power the relay from a arduino or point decoder.

I have started populating a spreadsheet with hyperlinks to websites of interest about modelling and model railways (being very web literate and methodical, I have always bookmarked or made note of every interesting site I have found).
In the near future, I will transfer the data to my Lumsdonia Web Links page as referenced table. It seems to me that not everyone is an expert at Google searches and may not know what words to put in, to find a particular resource. There are a few sites out there that have link pages to retailers/clubs/societies, but if you want one particular service or part, it's quite hard to know where to start. It may be too embarrassing or trivial to ask first time on the forum, but if there were a page that was by description, that would make life easier and probably lead into other similar snippets of info. Obviously my list will not be exhaustive, nor definitively complete. Once I have the page running on my site, I will start another thread then you guys can shout me any glaring omissions and secret bookmarks :D
I still have loads of Lumsdonia Tips ideas stored, ready to write up and post on the website, but in the meantime, please do make suggestions on here for future additions!

Just looked at my site stats and have broken through 6,000 hits across all the pages. As I don't think many find it on the net, I guess most are generated from links on here, so thanks for that chaps 'n' gals. Hopefully over xmas, I will have a little more time to write up some more tips.

I have really struggled to get the Links index to work. I have a full list in excel and was intent on extracting the data from it directly into my webpage software, WebPlus X8, but to no avail! It should be possible to populate a database or direct from excel and use the merge system in WebPage to generate the page for me. All attempts have failed with an external source not connecting and even resorting to using the built in database, gives no result. So basically (after many hours and several attempts) I have given up and resigned myself to placing all the data in a web page manually. This will be a long process and will make updates very tiresome, instead of just refreshing the database source.
So after many hours today, the first 3 lists are complete
Accessories
Art
Backscenes
the rest of the category buttons do not work, this is just a test page before I go live, once it is complete

For your delectation, a little taster

Please, please do comment, good or bad, am I wasting my time or do you think with development, this page will be useful?
