The unusual unsupported pole that NBL used as a handrail for the forward steps is something of a peril! But it is very neatly done on the model and if not dead scale is still fine enough to look so. The only way in my view is to put the model on the layout and then not handle it, other than for (infrequent) servicing.

I have been accustomed to this since building my own well detailed models in my youth. It has always been difficult to prevent damage to 4mm models carrying all the practical detail, and the experience of other (much better) model makers came to me as 'don't touch unless absolutely necessary'. Took me quite a while to really get that firmly lodged in the brain!

This Signature Left Intentionally Blank, but since I have written this and I intended to do it, this Signature is intentionally not blank. Paradox or What?

Park Royal rail bus for me, I was never really happy with my motorised dappled kit and had been eyeing it up for awhile!

Have a decoder ready to go as well :D

Just a word of warning about the Heljan 05. They have lots of super intricate detail, all made from brittle plastic. Things like the door handles will just snap off at the slightest touch. Handle with care!

My Heljan 05 arrived this morning (Saturday). Not bad to say I only ordered it on Wednesday afternoon. Unfortunately it's going to have to stay in it's box till after the holiday weekend as we have visitors.

My 05 arrived yesterday but it's still in it's box awaiting a decoder. Ordered a few Zimos from Coastal DCC. They probably won't arrive until Tuesday at the earliest :(

Best to run in on dc first to check its okay. I do not have a dc layout so at present my 05 is running round an oval of Kato Unitrack on the floor.

05 ordered - D2581 - a Thornton Junction Engine all its career, scrapped in Airdrie. :D

A bargain if you are quick for a pre-owned Railroad County class at Hattons. Described and priced as an older model (R392) it is obviously a later Railroad release and not a tender drive. I almost bought it because I consider it a BARGAIN.

Its not one of the first batches of Chinese made models when Hornby first moved production? These would have the finer scale blackened wheels but have kept the tender drives. I had a 9F like this and a 4F. (Or was it 3F :D ). The tender drives were identical to Margate examples but the armatures were 5 pole instead of the usual 3 pole.
