All you are missing out on is being stampeded with the herd into a purchase on this curious 'Black Friday' prospect of price reductions which largely don't amount to much at all.

Further to my "lame duck" Black-Friday post (on Page.6), it seems then that I dodged both a Pride of Lions AND "A Pack of Hyenas"

I say this, for the ONLY veritable "Bargain" (or, so I thought), turned-out to be 'reduced across the range' Class.66's from Scouse land

Me, with my (extreme) lack of knowledge of model-traction offerings, dodged a bullet (or 4), by not surrendering my wallet to these....


Appropriate for Liverpool & Merseyside then, I've only just found-out that these '66's, "wobble" like Bruce Groblaar's LEGS

I only currently possess ONE class.66 engine & that is a (beautiful), "E.W.S" from Bachmann - (that runs fine, NO WOBBLES )


Am assuming then that these (Ahem), "Bruce Wobbleaar" engines made for Merseyside are ALL blighted (?) & made at a different factory ?

They WERE being punted-out at £119.00 instead of the slightly higher £150.00 normal price - A 'Black Friday' BARGAIN - (or, so I thought)

It was just MY lack of knowledge on them that made me (thank Gawd, as it turned-out), "hang fire" on purchasing one.

Being as the price 'reduction' across the entire (or seemingly entire), new fleet was evident, is it reflective because of any "known problems" ?

Are they ALL "Bruce Wobbleaars", or, is it just restricted to an unlucky few ?

(put it this way - what VERY limited I've heard, has put me off ever buying one & being potentially saddled with a 'dud')

Looking on Youtube looks like loads of peopl e are unhappy with their 66's . There a couple of chaps who have solved the wobble but it looks like hassle.

There's a lot of good stuff on the Hattons 66, but the representation of the rotating axle box ends has proved ambitious at the price the UK customer is prepared to pay. Strictly for those that really want such features. There is a sector of the contemporary traction customer base that wants advances of this sort, such as working compensation on the bogies and ever more ambitious sound effects implementation.

TMC have already launched their boxing day sale https://www.themodelcentre.com/sale although I struggle to see what the bargain is in the vastly overpriced Heljan 1361 0-6-0ST which appears in the first three items (or at least did for me) with a "sale" price £2.28 more than its actual RRP

I'm still trying to get mine working to the standard I want after almost 2 years !!
Plus the Kernow (DJ) version at under half the price !

Now that may be Mike.
There are differences between the two in other areas as well.
IF they were accurate scale models then probably both are wrong.
However perhaps the first error is making anything other than P4 & live steam models ???

Would you pay £50 + for one of these over the other ??

I had never fully taken in that there was competition for such an obscure loco subject. Almost makes the Hattons/DJM attempt to compete with Hornby on the King class look reasonable. Bizarre indeed.

I would read that as a 'let's just get rid' price, and just move on.

Bure valley models have some good priced models on there website or in the shop if you live near by ,I'm tempted by the merchant navy class "Elder Dempster "@£129 and the stroudly terrier " Merton " @£84 plus loads more ( part of the centenary ) .
