coach destination boards query

Postby 4472 » Thu Dec 07, 2017 3:09 pm

I am assembling a Cornish Riviera set and want to add the boards to the coaches. I have tried Google images but cannot find the answer. What I need to know is when I attach the boards which comes first on the coach, the name of the train or the names of the stations. I realise that on the return journey it will be reversed, but my train will only go from Paddington to Penzance :D

The name of the train, in this instance 'Cornish Rivera' would be first, followed by the stations. The GWR (and BR Western Region) used larger sized destination boards than other railways, such as the Southern; the former utilized boards of around seventeen feet (I believe), compared to eleven on the Southern and twelve and a half feet on the Midland. The LNER had the shortest boards of all at only eight foot.
