Hello Happy Members!
Has anyone ever built the Hornby R711 trakmat layout (with or without the trakmat) ? As everyone knows, I'm not looking for realism. A lot of forum members are better than me for that. All your comments, advices and criticisms will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Hornby R711
I prefer the design seen on the 1978 and 1979 Hornby catalogues. That one you have shown will work fine, but I need a little something more interesting for me to work with. But like you say. If you like it, go for it, especially if you find it fun!

Thanks for the link. Very interesting.
Re: Hornby R711
It's not really a "Hornby R711 trakmat" layout but it's very close. I have all the track sections and the points. I also have all the wood for the baseboard (1.40m x 0.80m). I can only run short trains and 0-4-0 locos. All your comments, advices and criticism will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Hornby R711
Personally I'd change the lower points around and add another pair of points as shown in blue.
Thanks

Re: Hornby R711
Excellent idea. I buy it ! Fortunately, I had two right points in my box of track. This is the new track plan. Better than the first one (hope so).

For the record, I will use this very secret ballasting method that I found in this very impressive video:

Re: Hornby R711
Unfortunately, my track plan doesn't work in the real world because the Peco and Fleischmann track sections don't work together. They don't have the same height.
