Then others may contribute with their comment which can help to see it from other points of view than the idea and the expectatives.

If you do, give me a simple hand sketch of what you want it to be once displayed and the main dimensions.
If you already have one, also a diagram of the trackplan would help.
Also a description of the space where you want to keep it folded would help.

It may be really interesting and team work gives always more chances.

Meanwhile here a radically different concept:

A layout for running only one vehicle at a time. My idea was electric trams or a steam railcars where scenery is THE theme:

Good, here we go.

One of the ideas was a very tall & deep landscape scene which no one would like to have occupying the room permanetly so I had in mind two sections that eventually could be kept, for example in a corner, one on top of the other forming a column that could be disguissed to look as a closet or whatever.
Nevertheless, the layout concept is in principle only one track runing from the front of one side of the layout to the other with at each end a pivoting curved track section working as a point, a sector plate or a turntable hiding under the landscape.
When turned (switched) these plates will align with another track running through a tunnel along the layout sides to the background and eventually a folding yard with a turntable so the ride can create the illussion of same railcar going and coming back along same track...

For those enjoying lots of switching, long trains and plenty of trafic this would be super anoying but for those enjoying a bot elaborate scenery and a single steam railcar or tram slowl;y running across, it may be interesting.
I actually thought it as a show layout.

A more compact version of the one track tramway now without folding fiddleyard.
In this case there is a hidden track under the landscape with a turntable and two simple sector plates also hiddingf under the landscape. Eventueally a couple of storage tracks would be easy to install...

Reminds me of a design for a layout featuring Class 25 diesels, nickname RATS.
It was referred to as a RAT run, (slang for a short cut through minor roads).

Reminds me of a design for a layout featuring Class 25 diesels, nickname RATS.
It was referred to as a RAT run, (slang for a short cut through minor roads).

It was just searching a good excuse to model plenty of landscape and architecture. Certainly not for switching layouts fans but a way for amateur landscapists and architects to give their passion a chance.
Normaly all my layouts and dioramas are buiult to be at 1,30m heigh. This one too for the track but I would love make the river at 0,70m and the tallest trees at the top of the landscape reaching to 1,90m and bring it to one or two shows.
