Links to Trackplans on the net

Post by Dale_the_noob »

I've been trying to find layout plans so I can work on mine, but there are only limited plans available on the net.

I thought I would provide a thread with all the sites I have found with trackplans on and other people can add their links to sites with layouts on.

Hopefully it could be made a sticky for people trying to find inspiration for their layouts.

I found this one particularly inspiring for the smaller layout:

Mike's Small Track plan Page

American site, using Atlas track design software but generally very good.

Ok not strictly model railway plans but a site that contains diagrams of the entire Dutch Railway network. Useful source of ideas:

http://www.sporenplan.nl/

Click on "Sporenplanen" on the left and then select [NS} for The Netherlands. Other links here for other counties but are no where as near complete as the Ducth ones.

The top two options are for simple drawings and then extensive. The extensive options include signal locations and so on.

When looking at Dutch plans remember that they 'drive' on the Right and the network is bidirectionally signed. In general the largest cities such as Amsterdam and Rotterdam do not have termani - the exception being Den Haag (The Hague). Most termani are at smaller locations.

Any problems with translations I'll be happy to help.

On the site from NOCH you will find preformed modell layouts. Click on a layout you prefer, and at the technical details you will find a PDF with the trackplan.

Found this site with some good ideas. I think the layouts are based on Atlas but might get some inspiration if you're stuck for ideas....

EDIT: Think this might be the site margao linked to further up a bit but has relocated...

My website has over 170 designs that you might enjoy, based on a variety of board sizes. There's also Google aerial photography for those locations based on prototype locations.

Feel free to get involved and contribute some of your own ideas!

http://modllr.com/ is a community site that allows you do upload layouts etc and search through them.

Not much there at the moment, but I'm hoping it will grow.

This site should be required reading for anyone attempting a layout based on ptototypical operation.
http://www.signalbox.org/diagrams.php

Another site with documents having prototype track and signal plans, this time for anyone attempting multiple apect signals mainly. Beware - entering this site can result in long periods just browsing through the old signnalling notices!!

Hope these help

Jim
This Signature Left Intentionally Blank, but since I have written this and I intended to do it, this Signature is intentionally not blank. Paradox or What?

Very popular here in Germany:

Of course in German language, however, enough pictures and track-plans!
