J26, 15 ton crane, wagons from Oxford Rail

Postby Bigmet » Wed Jan 22, 2020 1:09 pm

The ex NER J26 a spin off from the J27 0-6-0 already announced, a fifteen ton breakdown crane, a GER ventilated van and a Pilchard. (This latter I believe to be an engineer's bogie wagon for ballast, rail and sleepers of an LNER design, which was designated 'Pilchard' under BR's 'seakind' scheme for its engineer wagon stock. So it will fit well with the shark, trout, walrus, mermaid and dogfish etc. that have been available over the years.)

Pre-ordered the crane looks great - an early 'breakdown' crane that was retained when replaced by later larger capacity cranes

The crane is not due until 2021 and its seems retailers are way out on the price as Oxford are saying it will be around the price of railgun ie £60 not £20.
