Beattie Well Tank manufacturers

Postby End2end » Sat Oct 07, 2017 11:41 am

I bought a couple of older Model Rail magazines recently off the bay as one of them was Cornish themed and found out about Beattie Well Tanks and thier prolifery in the S.W. region.
Does anyone know, apart from Kernow does any other manufacturer make a 00 Beattie Well Tank that's a good runner?
I would prefer DCC fitted or ready. Weathered would be another bonus.
Thanks

It's a big choice of one RTR OO model. Kernow commissioned the model from Dapol, manufacture transferring to DJM for a subsequent batch. DCC ready is standard, and the finish will be whatever Kernow have in stock or some luck in s/h! Chance of any other RTR manufacturer producing this as an OO model is very small, see following.

Proliferation in the south west? Only three of the original class survived the nineteenth century! These three were retained for use on the Wenford and Wadebridge mineral line in Cornwall which was incredibly picturesque - if you like steam locos going through cottage gardens - but will have been seen elsewhere occasionally by the necessity of going to works for overhaul. A real rarity in short, so the chance of another model is correspondingly small, because there's a heap of further similarly small locos with as yet no RTR model. To go up against one with existing competition is not likely to be as profitable.

That lesson is about to be learned at Kernow, who are duplicating the 1361 with an already on sale alternative from Heljan...
