Hornby R609 3rd radius double curve track

Postby joshs » Sun Aug 22, 2021 8:21 pm

hi looking at making a circle out of Hornby R609 3rd radius double curve track to use as a test bed for locos and the like. I've seen that 8 of R609 will make a circle but does any one know roughly how large this circle is before I go and buy the track. Had a good search round but can't find it mentioned. I have the Peco Rolling road and hornby one in use but giving this idea a try.

Cheers Josh

Hi, third radius track has a radius of 505mm (19 7/8") to it's centre. You will need to ad 1/2 the track width onto that (15mm).

Then double it and add on a bit for luck you will be getting close to a three foot six square board, you should still be able to hide it under a bed!.
