I have searched the forum but can't seem to find an answer to how to get the tender body off a coronation class loco. Mine is R2446 Montrose renamed to 46227 Duchess of Devonshire. It states it is DCC ready on the box but there are no instructions with it as I got it second hand. Is the plug in the tender or on the loco? My A3 had a lead coming from the loco which plugged into the tender, with, I must say, the most awkward plug I have ever come across. The Coronation doesn't have this.
I have tried and tried to get the tender body off. There is a screw at the front right corner which I have removed but that just made the body loose. Is there another screw?
Also the loco is missing the drivers side door and windows which I believe is one piece? Does anyone know where I could get one?
Thanks in advance.

Maintenance sheets, and service sheets, are available on Hornbys web site
https://support.hornby.com/hc/en-gb/sec ... nce-Sheets
https://support.hornby.com/hc/en-gb/sec ... 540-Hornby
while most if not all sheets can be found at

Re: Hornby Coronation class DCC plug.
You can stop bothering the tender! The lack of this means it's a production predating the move to decoders in tenders, decoder socket in the loco. Turn the loco upside down, move the bogie aside and look for a slotted head screw: that's the body securing screw. Lift the mechanism out from the front, at the back end a projection on the rear of the chassis block fits into a slot in the body - it's often the devil to get that properly relocated. Good luck with it.bristolmidland wrote:... Mine is R2446 Montrose renamed to 46227 Duchess of Devonshire.
