Coke cola lorry advert on tv at Xmas (will that be scrapped this year??)

I think it’s a good idea this set and prices on the expensive side to get a young one into it but hey that’s what Hornby prices are.....

Wonder if they will knocked it down to £40 for Black Friday as then they could shift a few if advertised well!?

If you could find out what the price to the likes of Hattons and Rails is, just add a couple of quid and that' what it will go down to eventually.

Wonder if this will rot holes in your stomach like the drink can and has done to some people who drank too much of it?
In a world of fences and doors who needs windows and gates?

unless Hornby are getting some sort of sponsorship money from coke for doing I really don't understand the point in this, or why people actually seem to want it, just looks like gimmicky nonsense to me

After the Thomas franchise this, like a typical Dapol coupler, is a complete flop.
Hornby madness showing through again like thier Cornish Carrier train set. GWR loco, GW brake van.....and a wagon from West Wales. Miles away from Cornwall
No. I won't be buying one.
Thanks

Reputedly, these promotionals are exceedingly popular 'collector' items, among those who collect specific branded merchandise. We will be able to tell if it works for Hornby, because they will create new versions in succeeding years. Last thing I want , but if it is solidly profitable, Hornby do need plenty of income.

I’d wonder if Hornby are actually paying coke for the license to use their logo etc?

I think the rrp is there purely so retailers can list it at its actual price of ~£40 while claiming it’s 50% off as they do with Hornbys normal starter set

They are mugs if they do. Companies will pay thousands to get their logo/branding onto someone else's product. I'd say in the case of Hornby/Coke it's mutually beneficial, it's not likely to make a significant difference to either's sales. TTTE was different, it borrowed heavily on the intellectual property of the publishers and TV production company, and Harry Potter relies almost totally on the films, the books having little visual content (mainly the stylised covers.)

For Adult Collectors!

Does that mean the train will be put on a shelf (or wherever) and not run?

If so, Hornby may has well not put a motor in the engine.

Coca Cola you must be joking they could have sold heaps of these things with a good name on the loco and wagons, maybe "Strongbow" or "Carlsburg" would have done the trick.
