Has anyone had a go at remodelling the old Hornby HST headlight clusters to look like the modern style ones?
If so are there any tips of how to do this or any how to guides out there?
Thanks

Re: Re-modelling HST Light Cluster
I painted mine black in the middle and silver round the edge using a silver pen.
I haven't got to it yet but you can also paint the body work behind the cluster black.
Hope it helps.
Thanks

Just with a steady hand or did you form some kind of template?

Re: Re-modelling HST Light Cluster
Freehand. The black in the middle with paint.
The idea with the silver pen is not to draw directly on the lenses but use the side of the silver pens nib instead around the edge of the cluster.
This will leave some of the silver ink on the lenses without getting it on the faces of the light cluster blocking any light.
I'm in the middle of updating my HST power and dummy car at the moment so will take a picture of them.
I'll be right back.
Thanks

Re: Re-modelling HST Light Cluster
OK here's some pictures..
First off the 2 light clusters and the silver pen. You can see I've painted both back and front of the middle part of the cluster black. A close up. Hopefully this shows the method of using the pen at an angle to the work to ONLY paint the edges. I have a few of the wooden blocks with blue tac on to gently hold things while I'm trying to paint them or leaving them to dry.
They are very useful. Hope it helps.
Thanks

Thanks for taking the time to post the pictures, and the blue tack block is a great tip. I think we have misunderstood each other though. This is what I am hoping to achieve.
