Model number needed please.
Does anyone know what the model number of this crane is please?
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HORNBY-OO-GA ... 1438.l2649
I have asked the seller but as yet there is no response.
Also any possible provenance? I.E. year of manufacture, released under the railroad or other specialist range, If in fact it's not a Hornby model.
Thanks

That is old Lima tooling. The crane is still available new in the Railroad range in Network yellow. Was also released in a red version. That current bid price is getting close to street price.

This is a new yellow version. Was available in red and brown livery as well.

Re: Model number needed please.
The seller finally got back to me with a model number of R9691.
I thought models with 4 digit model numbers were newer? I don't have a clue about what year or what tooling models have.
I never really thought of having a crane on the layout, it's just the colour that struck me which I thought might look good alongside GWR region items and with it being not as long as the generic longer crane with all those other wagons that comes with it, it would sit nicely in a siding.
But as mentioned previously, I prefer newer tooling.
Thanks

That is an odd number and perhaps something from the Thomas range. The Hornby Railroad models seem to be in the R69XX series.End2end wrote:The seller finally got back to me with a model number of R9691......Thanks. End2end

Definitely a Thomas item from around 6/7 years ago. Found a Hattons link for R9691 and the price was £14 when they stocked it.
Re: Model number needed please.
Are you sure? All the railroad stuff I have is either R2xxx or R3xxx depending on how old it is.GWR_fan wrote:That is an odd number and perhaps something from the Thomas range. Re: Model number needed please.
Maybe not so clear as I was referring to the Railroad release of the old Lima crane tooling being in the R69XX series.
Re: Model number needed please.
Oh I see. I only have an ex Lima class 40 railroad. I don't think I have anything else that was Lima.GWR_fan wrote:Maybe not so clear as I was referring to the Railroad release of the old Lima crane tooling being in the R69XX series.
