Hornby TEA 100t tanker - bogie question

Postby dan8400 » Thu Jul 27, 2017 4:56 pm

Hi everyone,

I have some of the above tankers but recently bought one from eBay that has had its bogies hacked about. The wheel sets don't fit properly and are a very loose fit.

Is there a replacement bogie available or is it a common bogie I could acquire off something else?

Thanks
Dan

Sorry. I didnt notice this earlier. Why not fit some Romford or similar (Makits?) top hat bearings and metal wheels if it does not have them (The metal axles are ideal for top hat bearings.
Failing this, why not file down slightly and glue a tiny washer or circular made piece of wire. Many ways to repair wagons to keep them on the rails!

Hi

Don't apologise, no need to. I have changed my rake of Hornby TEA's to metal wheels now. And apart from seeming to be loose, that one runs quite well. Don't quite know how. I will keep the other options on the back burner.

Thank you for replying Mountain. These posts don't go anywhere. I always use questions I've asked in "my posts" as reference later.

Thanks
Dan

I never forget hearing a railway chargeman one morning sitting on a seat at his local station (Haverfordwest) waiting for his morning train to take him to work. A local lady sat next to him and a train of those TEA 100 ton (102 ton?) tankers passed heading to the local oil refinery in west Wales. It took a while as there were normally 25-33 of them passing behind the locomotive (Class 60). The lady turned to him and asked "Where is all that tea going?"
