Hornby Class 67

Anybody bought either of the first three...

I have the W & S which looks really nice and is really heavy, some minor faults as reported elsewhere, only disappointment with Hornby is you still can't turn the tail lights off...

Any thoughts......

You can't turn the lights off? Are you running it on DC or DCC?

What I mean is independantly to the headlights.

Maybe it's just me but that front end doesn't look right (You'd have thought they'd have done something for the name plate too!).

There is an article on t'other site about this model. There have been some not very nicely finished models shipped out (cracks in the body, filled (badly) then painted over.

I know where you're coming from, but wasn't it Margate who said along the lines of 'can't see what the problem is' to RE?

Bringing Production back to the UK might be a viable option. Many companies are bringing back production to the UK or European countries (I know of at least 2 companies have reverted back to UK production from China due to poor quality product) because they are finding the items being made in China are of poor quality or they are starting to cost more as the demand for higher wages over there is now escalating, also rising fuel and oil prices will clearly add more £'s to your locomotive.

In the end you have to ask yourself. Do you want to see more problems like this, or do you want to see the high quality you expect when paying for these locos dip down and cost even more because the first time yield rates drop and Hornby end up having to spend more money on reworking/scrap costs?

Yes, that statement is unbelievable.

He'd be the first person to moan if they received that standard of quality after forking out £100.00...

It will be interesting to see the outcome of this, as the previous post the cost of manufacturing in China is going up.

I guess they only want what we have over here and that is a decent standard of living..

Isn't that the dilemma for the conscientious consumer? We want our goods at a decent price but alongside that must go an acceptance of lower wages and living standards for those who make it.

I'd like to see Hornby products made in the UK. Not necessarily out of any rational reasoning but more a sense of national pride. Something we can point to and say "we made that".

People pay big money for Wrenn models still. Great runners built to last and made in Britain.

Pay peanuts, get monkeys the same is true of consumer goods.
