Re: class T9 chassis rot

Yes, but you have to admit Tim, not everyone is willing to trawl Hattons "pre-loved" listings day and night to strike the instant their price is reduced to absolute BARGAIN! That activity is something you actually enjoy.  I think plenty would be willing to pay that price ...

Re: BR blue popularity

I think it's because the hobby here is populated by home grown baby boomers and retired Brits of similar age. Boomers grew up with Hornby and then Triang Trains, reading Look & Learn, Enid Blyon & W.E. Johns when steam and green were still part of life in Britain. Then we came of a certain a...

Re: Improving 'teak' finish

Yes. CA anywhere near anything after final finishing is risking aesthetic blemish to a ruined part and PITA repair. The right fresh CA, applicator, experience and exercising care can help, but ...I still detest using the stuff generally, and with the exception of etch, particularly in plastics model...

Re: Improving 'teak' finish

Yes. Clumsily phrased. @ self What I meant to convey was "I have been lurking in this thread" , which I'm sure you comprehended. Argh! Cyanoacrylates. Despite having used them for decades in specific purposed applications, I continue to have a love-hate relationship with the stuff. A...

Re: Spray Glues. What's the difference?

Most Loctite products are industrial volume and sales orientated. i.e. QANTAS uses Loctite superglue, but you won't find it on shop shelves. Need to go to an tools supply to industry type store. I'd try a vehicle, tools, bearings, or similar industry wholesale supply focussed business.

Re: Spray Glues. What's the difference?

I'd recommend the Loctite too just on brand and price, especially because of its easy local availability to you. Every Loctite product I've ever used falls into the same quality & perormance category as 3M, although Loctite product pricing is also on parity with 3M, neither usually priced on the...

Re: Spray Glues. What's the difference?

I use spray adhesive all the time for Scalescenes kits. Unsure if that's the kind of thing you're after though? Gluing quality paper to card without penetrating the porosity of the paper or affecting the sprayed surface. It will glue other materials too. Pretty sure it would glue foil to cardboard t...

Why?

I've never bought a single item from the line, and would wager a majority in the hobby probably likewise within the past 20 years if they're honest.
