Re: 3d printers and printing

I have been doing 3D designs for over 2 years now and am getting better and better at getting the design right first time and the supports right with only 2 or 3 goes, lol! It is hard applying 'modelling license' to make the design printable, but still finescale and looking right. I recently started...

Re: Lumsdonia

Little has happened on Lumsdonia, since I started doing 3D designs, the process has taken over all my modelling. The upside however, is that I have created hundreds of items that will adorn the layout, once I come to build it! And best of all, I can be proud that I have scratch built them (or equiva...

Re: Eileens Emporium ok?

It's a great shame they have closed. I for one, have bought stuff off them a shows many times. They did a range of brass strip (their own brand) that was half the price of others and always had a great range of building materials. They will be missed!

Re: Airbrush Recommendations. How good is yours?

One thing not mentioned in this thread is compressor pressure. How, why and what should the pressure be set at? Do you use the same pressure settings for weathering rolling stock or other transport items as oppose to colouring an embankment other larger area? Thanks End2end It really depends on man...

Although they may exist, the wide canal looked too wide! It was my first impression when I saw it. I think the first iteration looke quite realistic to be honest, but yes iteration 3 is much more interesting. I approve :D

Re: Dad-1 - Workbench - West Bay Wagon Works

Provided the magnetic couplers have a very high "remnance" it should be possible to temporarily weaken the field enough to separate them by subjecting them to an AC field. If it works we'd all need a magnetizer/demagnetizer to re invigorate them when they had done too many cycles, but tha...

Re: St. Blazey's - My first layout - Stage 3 Building

Knowing the problem that bezels only have short threads, I always make my panels from Aluminium or perspex, it might be cheaper to buy a new panel front rather than buy new bezels!

If you can work out the thread size, you could 'tap' the holes with a thread or alternatively just glue them in!

Re: Dad-1 - Workbench - West Bay Wagon Works

That's a good job you've done there Geoff. I'd recommend Tortoise motors for that lovely piece of track work. They can be adjusted to not push too hard on the point rails and there's certainly no thump. Each one has two change over switches, so powering the frogs would be no problem. I doubt I've t...

Re thinner lamp post, it is possible to paint a figure or plastic lamp, with Silver loaded paint, then scratch an isolating gap each side, you need to buy the expensive stuff £14 for it to work, then overpaint with ordinary paint.
As for balls -
Ball bearings
Cake topping silver balls
Ball head pins
