Re: SVR Workbench-Bluebell P Class Finished, hopefully
This is the decoder I used http://www.ehattons.com/46981/Gaugemaster_Controls_DCC26_Small_OPTI_Decoder_with_4_functions/StockDetail.aspx . I chose this because it was the cheapest I could find which would do the job(I just want a chip that lets the loco go forward and backwards cheaply). I like the ...

Re: SVR Workbench-Bluebell P Class Finished, hopefully
Long time, no progress. Yes I know I haven't updated the thread for a long time. That is partially due to me not making much progress. I have found many ways of how to make this project not work but I think I have cracked it now. My first problem was that I was just not skilled enough to solder in t...

Re: BMR Workbench, Metropolitan Coaches a step in to the unk
I think you may have misunderstood me slightly, I was meaning to say that you will probably have to use similar methods to what I used when making my model to make yours as they have similar characteristics. Pity someone got there before me with the old coaches but you can't blame me for trying. I d...

Re: BMR Workbench, Metropolitan Coaches a step in to the unk
Hi Matt I have also been dabbling in 3D printing to make the obscure predecessor to the metropolitan Bo-Bo (Sarah Siddons). http://www.shapeways.com/model/683420/met-1906-loco.html?li=cart&materialId=61 It is quite similar to your planned coaches in the way that they are both rather box like wit...

Re: another attempt at downloading?
Great photos as always.
Could you give some more info regarding the camel-back style loco as I have never seen anything like it before.
I am always interested in the southern, obscure and interesting locos and rolling stock.

Re: Horsted Keynes OO, Third and final P-Class...
I was not reffering to the 4Cor car which I know they also have at the railway at the moment. This is what I meant http://www.bluebell-railway.co.uk/bluebell/pic2/electric/vep3417.html And the kit is that Mossdp is selling is for that class and Hornby do a model of that class also but not in the rig...

Re: Horsted Keynes OO, Third and final P-Class...
You could always scratch build the Howard Petrol-engined locomotive with some plasticard and a tenshodo or similar motor bogie but it's not anywhere as interesting as a fully lined SECR loco. Don't they own a 4vep now which could be made from a re-numbered hornby one or Mossdp was selling a partiall...

Re: can you remove a DCC chip from RTR model?
All DCC ready locos are fitted with a socket to connect a Decoder to this has a blanking plug in it to complete the circuit. A DCC fitted loco simply has a decoder plugged in the socket at the factory and the blanking plug included in the detailing pack. Most decoders(Hornby, bachmann etc) have a mo...

Re: Sir Digby Chicken-Caesar
If you don't need the socket then you could do what I did when I had one and cut out the socket and connect the wires to the motor to the wires from the pickups which can be found once you remove the socket. You should then connect the wires together though you may need to test before you make it pe...

Re: It is rumoured..
Personally I would love to see any RTR underground trains and would definitely buy them to go with the EFE and kitbuilt trains I already own. I do however agree with what has been previously said in that it is to modern for a lot of people and won't fit on a large amount of railways if modelled full...

Re: BMR Workbench - B4, USA, O2, LNWR, P-Class, H2 Atlantic
Again a great job done on a original and clever idea. I think the way you made this model is fitting that your model like the real thing is made out various bits like the real one. I think the interest you have received is due to this being such a unique kit/scratch/RTR project(its certainly given m...

Re: De Ja Vu Competition entry-Park Royal Railbus
Hi Oliver, do you know the trick with the bit of rolled up paper when fitting the doors. With the motor in the way you'll need two. Roll up a piece of paper so that it wants to unroll, make that 2 pieces because of the motor. Put one either side of the motor so that it presses against the body side...

Re: BMR Workbench - B4, USA, O2, LNWR, P-Class, H2 Atlantic
Looking Good so far. I am always impressed that rather than paying over the odds for a brass kit of some sort you think outside the box to create a much more interesting and cost effective project. Is it just the H1 footplate you have as I always am always interested in odds ends and loco parts(they...

Thats a really inventive and great idea for using the coaches.
I hope it goes well and you should have a nice unique model.
