Re: My modern OO layout idea

I've looked at track availability and I can't see that Peco make a Code 100 Electrofrog double slip. There is an insulfrog double slip.

The only electrofrog double slip is code75. Will using flexi track on the curves cause me problems? They are all radius 2 or above.

Re: My modern OO layout idea

Thanks for the info Pete. To be fair, I'm not too bothered using 75 or 100 as long as it all runs smoothly. In a perfect layout I'd like elevations and rolling hills etc but I don't have the room and if we ever move I want each section to be able to be removed from the loft. To be honest after worki...

Re: My modern OO layout idea

I quite like this one. I've tried using curved points but their radius makes them hard to fit in the space I have available. Where I have used them I've got a much bigger sidings for the freight area - this was a concern as I wanted to get as many of the large hopper wagons as I could in the longest...

Re: My modern OO layout idea

I've come up with this so far. Not sure on having 3 full loops as it means losing two lines in the fiddle yard. Also, apart from the junction on the right, I'm not sure what to do with the rest of the loops - if at all. A goods train on the inner most loop needs to do one loop to get to the outside ...

Re: My modern OO layout idea

Gotcha on the fiddle yard comment. I've changed the station as you suggested but I've made some further changes which allow a 3rd loop. I have also considered having an under-layout fiddle/storage yard and even considered having helix either end to allow safe access to the yard. This made things ver...

Re: My modern OO layout idea

I think I would probably have the inner loop as clockwise as the goods train enters the loop clockwise. With the inner workings as they are, the goods train will have to re-enter the inner workings clockwise as when returning empty it needs to reverse slowly over the slip back into the industry area...

Re: My modern OO layout idea

Its all settrack. I'll experiment with the flexi track once I'm in a position to start laying track. Even though the weather is rubbish here its still very hot in the loft so boarding out the rest of the loft and table building won't commence for a couple of months yet. Gives me time to finish my sc...

My modern OO layout idea

Ok so I've got half an idea of what I'm after from my layout. I wanted at least 2 full loops. A diesel TMD, some kind of puzzle to keep me amused and a station of some sort to justify some the passenger trains I've always wanted (although not quite sure how to explain a TGV next to a Pendolino!) I'm...
